Literature Text

Friends are like the seasons, they travel through our life,
Inspiring Summer sunshine in times of Winter strife,
Their laughter lights our hearthfire, their love will keep us warm,
Their kinship is our shelter, away from any storm.

In winds of woe and worry, they're Autumn to our tree,
And cast our troubles swift away like leaves upon a breeze,
In fiery heat of anger, they are our Winter cool,
At times of Christmas madness, they are our peaceful Yule.

Unwrapping plastic presents is nothing like our friends,
For false and shiny trinkets, a true heart never sends,
Instead a far more precious gift, than any ever sold,
To share a smile and pot of tea, now that's our kind of gold!

Whatever season, grey or fair, a friend is at your side,
Through all the twisting maze of days, they'll ever be your guide,
And if any would call you friend, remember all life long,
To light the fire, cut the cake and put the kettle on.
