Waiting

I'm up, I'm down, and waiting around,
Just for a signal, just for a sound,
Anyone out there? Anyone near?
Is anyone coming to rescue me here?

Standing and sitting, pacing the floor,
Looking through windows, checking the door,
Slowly my patience is fizzling out,
Not long till my anguish erupts in a shout!

I'll give it a minute, a few moments more,
A jiffy, an hour, perhaps even four,
Surely they realise how worried I've grown?
But wait! Here they come! With a nice juicy bone!
